Monique’s Salon was established in 2004 by Monique Smith. Prior to being Monique’s Salon, it was formally Jo’s Salon, a 65 year old Spokane based Hair and Wig Salon.
Monique’s Salon originally started out with the thought of enhancing the existing business by including spa services such as massage and esthetics.
Quickly did we realize that our specialty was hair replacement and hair restoration.With an already existing history of being the “wig salon”, we continued to grow and expand.With the upgrades in the appearance, inventory, the increase in customer service and the expansion of products that were being offered, the business flourished With the increase in products available, the salon continued to add the new, improved and and enhanced product lines to the already existing stock.
The fall of 2005, the interior of the salon was updated.New salon and private room stations were enhanced, made larger and a more efficient work space.An additional private room and a custom design and molding room were also added.
After incredible marketing, community assistance and Monique establishing relationships with world renowned wig designers and the founders of Wigs For Kids, Jeffery and Zina Paul, the salon was having some growing pains.We needed more staff and more room.
In March of 2006, a new product line was introduced with the use of Cyberhair.Cyberhair is a technologically advanced hair replacement product that mimics human hair.Only Cyberhair is more durable, easy to care for and can be slept and swam in.Previously, Cyberhair was only available in custom orders only.With this introduction of a stock, already made line, the industry in general flourished.
Clients were calling from all over the state.This product was nationally marketed by the originating vendor.With such a great response and clients traveling from all over the state, it was in the Fall of 2006 that Monique’s needed to expand to the Western side of the state.Therefore, Monique’s Salon in Bellevue, WA was established.Both locations continue to grow each year, in employees, financially and customer service and acknowledgement.
Monique’s Salon holds exclusive territory rights to all of the Cyberhair products in Western and Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.With this exclusivity and the want and desire from clientele who need hair replacement, each location will continue to grow.
In 2007, Monique’s Salon also got trained and holds the exclusivity on the Paris Hilton Hair Extension line.With the increased want for hair extensions, the damage of clients hair the salon was seeing from uneducated stylists, it became a need for the salon to learn a healthy option for human hair extensions.
In 2008, after experiencing the desperate cry from men, women and children on how the hair loss was shattering their lives, the salon added additional services to include more Image Consulting.The salon takes applications for nominees for an opportunity to receive an image makeover from Monique’s Salon.In August of 2008, Monique’s began doing one monthly makeover.With the thought of enhancing someone’s life in Spokane, one person at a time.
With the continued growth in the hair replacement industry, Monique’s Salon is running out of room and space in the Spokane location.The salon will be moving in the late spring, early summer to a new upgraded building only 4 blocks away.This growth in the Spokane location will allow for enhanced services, increased employment opportunities in the community and the ability to expand our image center.
The City of Bellevue purchased the existing building where Monique’s Salon is located in Bellevue.With the increased need for space and growth, in the early summer, Monique’s Salon in Bellevue will also be moving.The salon will be moving closer to Overlake hospital with the idea of being able to help more with Overlake Hospitals Oncology department.This opportunity will allow the salon to expand and grow and add additional employment opportunities and help more clientele.
