You Need To Walk Before You Can Run

The old-age saying really is true, especially when starting on a fitness program! Doing too much too soon can lead to frustration and wanting to give up. Flash back to the last time you decided to clean out your closet or paint the living room!  Triathlete, Personal Trainer, and Iron Man Competitor- Liz Ferro shared her expertise with us on achieving fitness goals.

The most important aspect of starting a new fitness program and sticking to it is setting realistic goals. By setting realistic goals, you give yourself clear direction and the motivation to succeed. Meeting your goals builds confidence and charges up your mind with energy and determination. Realistic goals can get you through tough times and keep you focused on the bigger picture.

The benefits of “cross training” go a long way! When the same type of exercise is performed repeatedly, our bodies begin to adapt to it. As a result, our bodies don’t have to work as hard. When our bodies aren’t working as hard, we’re not burning as many calories and our fitness gains plateau. So mix it up! Your body will thank you for it.
